STIX BONES
Stix Bones, a Recording Academy member and Jazz artist/drummer, launched his career with the chart-topping Smooth Jazz album Groove Like This. As the driving force behind The BONE Squad, Stix Bones has mesmerized audiences, including serving as the resident band for The Paradise Theater in The Bronx, NY, a venue with over 3,000 seats. During their residency, The BONE Squad opened for legendary artists such as Charlie Wilson, Chaka Khan, SWV, The O'Jays, Babyface, Cedric The Entertainer, and many more. Expanding his talents beyond performance,
Stix Bones moved into music production for various artists and TV shows, securing placements on The Real Housewives of Miami and the Telly Award-winning series Take Back The Mic. Building on his success in music production, Stix Bones returned to his roots as a drummer to create The Soul Series-urban Jazz instrumental albums that bridge the gap between Jazz and Hip-Hop.
The Soul Series includes Olimpik Soul, featuring American Olympic Hall of Famer Bob Beamon, who makes his debut as a percussionist. Beamon is renowned for holding the longest-standing modern Olympic record in Track & Field from the 1968 Mexico Olympic Games. Influenced by a fusion of Jazz, Hip-Hop, and R&B Soul, Stix Bones has earned a respected name among Jazz and Hip-Hop artists, truly embodying the essence of a Brother Of Noble Excellence.
BOB BEAMON
Olympic Champion
In 1968, at just 22 years old, Bob Beamon made history in
Mexico City with a leap that shattered the Olympic long jump.
record. His jump of 29' 2 1/2" exceeded the previous world
and Olympic record by an incredible 1.8 feet-a record that
remains unbeaten nearly six decades later. While many
events from that era have faded into history, Beamon's feat endures as a symbol of triumph over adversity. Growing up in NYC's Jamaica, Queens, Beamon faced numerous challenges but chose to overcome his doubts and
fears, daring to dream the impossible. He charted his own course, following the rhythm of his own internal music.
Today, at age 78, Beamon has leapt into a new chapter of his
life, channeling his energy into his lifelong passion:
percussion. With the help of NYC's Hip-Hop jazz band, The B.O.N.E. Squad, Beamon has become a conga player. The B.O.N.E. Squad, led by drummer Stix Bones, is a local
institution of funk, groove, and soul. Known for their dynamic
performances, they have opened for legendary artists such
as Charlie Wilson, Chaka Khan, SWV, The O'Jays, Babyface, and Cedric The Entertainer. They have a standing gig as the
opening act at a theater in the Bronx.
See why The Washington Post, Good Day New York, and other
respected media outlets are buzzing about Bob Beamon and
The B.O.N.E. Squad. Let us know if they can showcase to your
audience what makes this collaboration so Olympic!
